Feburary 7, 2013

Good morning. A bit of a lazy morning here today. Alesia and I traveled to Alexandria yesterday to see the River Oaks Arts Center and the Alexandria Museum of Art. Both were very interesting and eye pleasing, the exteriors/architecturally and interiors/gallery, gift shops and studio content. And both places located just off the interstate in downtown Alexandria, met us with warm reception from the staff members, which is a big plus for returning gallery goers and gift buying shoppers.

I'm proud to say that I just delivered some of my smaller stained glass items to the River Oaks Arts Center Gift Shop, located in the Bolton House at 1330 Second St., Alexandria, LA. You can view these pieces in the River Oaks Arts Center page on this website.

Thanks again for following us, and have a nice day.

We had a great December, family fun, weather and gallery sales. A big Thank You! to those of you who purchased stained glass and mosaics. I took a short break for the holidays and I'm ready to get back to work creating brand new designs for your window/ viewing pleasures. And, I recently purchased a new computer table that I have transformed into a light table. Now, enjoy your Monday!

We had a great time at the Baton Rouge Hot Art, Cool Nights event! I have new pieces hanging at Artvark,Ltd. on Jefferson Hwy. Check out the photos on Facebook, Anderson Artworks Stained Glass and Mosaics,Etc. or here in my Artvark Gallery page.
I'm currently working on some pieces for Sans Souci in Lafayette, as they sold several of my stained glass pieces in April and during the International Festival.
Hope you all are having a great springtime. My yard is blooming, and full of daylily blossoms.

That Face

My husband always knows when I'm designing. He says, there's that face. Well, right now, I'm designing. Not with pen or computer, but with my eyes and colorful textured glass. I wonder if I have that face, the design face.
I'm working on pieces for various galleries. I will post some photos soon.

Last Saturday of March 2012

Just thought I would mention the leaf collage at the top of this page. This is a fabric collage, bits and pieces of fabric that I cut and layered and sewed together with various threads, to create the different colors in the leaf. Sycamore, a tree that I adore. We had one in our backyard on Grand Avenue in Lafayette, LA, when I was a child.
Etc., here it stands for those other things that I need to do, aside from glass and tile.
Have a good Saturday.

Meeting People

Very interesting how we meet people. For example, I recently met a very nice person who came to my home to assist my vet with our cats. She was very interested in my artwork and mentioned that she and her husband were opening a wine bar. Well, the upscale wine bar, is Heaux Jeaux's here in Baton Rouge and my stained glass and mosaics will be featured in their bar.

Hence, the gallery wall on this site. So if you happen to live in Baton Rouge and see my work at Heaux Jeaux's, you'll be able to view it again or make a purchase here online.

I will also be adding other galleries as well in the near future.

Good afternoon and welcome to my weebly blog. There seems to be a big learning curve for me, setting up this site. I'm just not use to these tools, but determined to figure it out.

    A bit about me:

As a child, art supplies were readily available and creativity was encouraged.
And in elementary school thru highschool, I was more concerned with how well my art projects were completed than focusing on the main subjects.

I Studied Fine Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 1977-1980, focus on drawing, painting and etching. I married my husband Doug in the beginning of my fourth year, and he was transfered so left to follow my husband and I start a family.

I continued with drawing and painting and crafts and when we settled in Louisiana I began working as an apprentice in a glass studio.

I  worked in 2 separate stained glass studios crafting liturgical glass designs from 1990-2007.

I worked in commercial art production and taught elementary art classes through our Arts Council. I have designed and fabricated my own stained glass and mosaic designs since 1995.

And I currently display my artwork in galleries and gift shops in Louisiana.
